Columbia Star is a thornless trailing variety — needs a sturdy 5-6 ft trellis for the long canes. Bears on second-year (floricane) wood; first real crop 1-2 years after planting, ripening mid-July in Zone 7. After harvest, prune fruited canes to the ground and tie up the new primocanes for next year.
Two thornless trailing canes in Deck bed A, flanking a 2×2 garlic chives block. From One Green World; planted late May 2026.
Columbia Star is a thornless trailing variety — picks heavy mid-July in Zone 7 once established. Bears on second-year (floricane) wood, so a real first crop won’t show until 2027. For now I’m focused on training the long primocanes along the arch trellis above the bed.

Deck bed A in late May (May 24) Both canes leafing out at the corners of the bed; garlic chives bulking up in the middle 2×2. The deck arch overhead will hold the canes as they extend.
